How to Unenroll Prospects from a Sequence

Different steps and approaches to unenroll contacts from a sequence

If a prospect opens, clicks, or replies to email messages you send, you may want to have these prospects unenrolled from the sequence based on different signals or levels of engagement from the prospect.

This article will touch on the various ways you can drive unenrollment from a sequence.

The automatic unenrollment option is the most powerful, and this will allow you to use any property, or combination of properties, to drive unenrollment, including any system-generated information properties like opens, replies, clicks, etc.

Sequence Setting Options for Unenrollment

Inside the sequence settings, there are options to stop sending and unenroll your contacts if they reply to the sequence, reply to any email or SMS, or not unenroll at all.

Automatic Unenrollment Options

To get even more granular on your unenrollment, on top of the basic settings above, you can utilize SmartLists and the Auto-Unenrollment triggers to set these rules as you wish.

This article shows how to create a SmartList, and here you can see a bit more information about how to utilize SmartLists. SmartLists can also be used, in the case of this article, to drive automation based on certain engagements, like 'Number of Links Clicks', 'Number of Email Opens', etc.

The video below shows how you can tack SmartLists into your sequence for auto-enrollment and auto-unenrollment.

Manual Unenrollment Options

To manually unenroll a prospect from a sequence, or pause them in the sequence, you may do this either inside the Contact Details Popout, or from inside the Sequence Enrollment Tab.
